New Worlds Project

The New Worlds Project is the sum total of Sol's Nations endeavors to reach the stars. Based on Neptune, the Project is politically neutral, absolutely. No contribution is turned away, though the administration team has their hands full maintaining distance between politically-dissenting groups.
While not strictly a military organization, many branches have adopted a military command structure to better integrate former military forces. All branches report to the Administrative Council.

Goal:

An exploration and colonization mission to the star system of 61 Cygni.

Membership:

Leadership
All homeworld planets have a presence in the Project, and are assigned tasks based on inherent skills and specialization. The population of the expedition has been selected from the entire population for the widest variety of skills. Venetian and Spartan bio-engineering has created a host of Homunculi to assist with day-to-day maintenance, more than half of which were created for the Project. Earth and Martian bio- and mechanical engineering has been put to use created automated terraforming equipment, based on Ogron horticultural practices.

Travel:

The World-ships are expected to take ~25 years to reach their destination at the edge of the Cygni system. Project personnel will be in stasis for the duration (reducing expected aging effects to less than 7 years), excluding emergency teams. On arrival, the administrative crews of each Frigate will begin triage on which personnel get priority awakening.

Technology:

Food: The journey will have a ready supply of travel-safe foods, intended to last for up to 2 years after arrival. In the event that no further provisions can be obtained, a rationing plan exists to ensure survival for another year beyond the intended duration. All other provisions will need to be acquired locally onsite. The expectation is that supplies will be readily available, as significant organic compounds have been confirmed within the Cygni system. Current scientific projections have determined that any organic food present will be safe with minimal processing.
In the event provisions are not available, habitable space within the World-ships has been designated for farming. This will require a significant restructuring of other functions, at the detriment of the mission.

Notes:

The founder, Cindeir Septrames [felan], recently retired as Prime Director in order to spend time with her grand-kittens. She was succeeded by the Director of Internal Negotiations, Grimbul Balak [borian].
