61 Cygni System
A binary star system roughly 11.5 lightyears from Sol, in the constellation Cygnus. It consists of a pair of K-type dwarf stars that orbit each other in a period of about 659 years. They orbit each other in a widely variable pattern, from 50 - 120 AU across 700 years.
At least 2 planets are present, but as many as 12 orbital bodies may possibly exist. Orbitals are around the central well Cyg B, with erratic behavior due to Cyg A. Detailed examination indicates Cyg B should have highly unpredictable solar storms.
Planet presence and activity: unknown. Limited planetary confirmation, due to erratics introduced by orbiting star Cyg B. No detected transmissions indicating civilization.
