The Galactic Network System

The system set in place to keep information running smoothly and fast in the human inhabitated space.
It consists of satellites placed in all habitated systems and a box placed in most spacecrafts as standard equipment.
One of the necessities of a society split by distances that are better reached by shooting of spacecrafts than sending radiowaves.

Utility

The system works by having every spacecraft fitted with a Galactic Net Box on board, and every inhabited solar system house a Galactic Knot Satellite.
The boxes always link to the local satellite and passively downloads information (news, broadcasts etc.).
As a spacecraft enters a new solar system, the box links up with the new satellite and uploads the information from the previous systems, while downloading new information from the new satellite.
The satellites are responsible for relaying any news to settlements in the local system.
Thus information travels faster than any radiowave could, and society is kept up-to-date.

Manufacturing

The Terran Information Central, or TIC, makes all of these components in their own factories.

Social Impact

The flow of information between frontier and the core worlds is especially important - To the frontier settlements, it is the lifeline to civilization and to the core worlds, it is important to know what the situation is at the border of their civilization in case of an attack or any complication that needs to be acted upon.
This system also carries personal messages (like emails) in an encrypted state, making it possible to have relations with extraplanetary fellow humans

Access & Availability
Every spacecraft has a Galactic Netbox from the Terran Information Central installed somewhere aboard.
As soon as a settlement in a new solar system is officiated, a satellite is set up in the system.
Related Species
I made this world because my mind keeps rambling, and instead of stopping it, I'm riding the wave.
It started with a picture in my mind of a tiger man in a small spacecraft following a giant tiger in space, in the tone of old saturday morning cartoons and the Heavy Metal animated movie.
Then came the idea of his occational ally, a woman in space flying a small asteroid. The more I wrote on her, the more I got intrigued by the past, I deviced.
Right now the flow is focused on her background - namely all related to The Genesis Project.
I do all of the writing and almost all of the drawing myself at this point.
My hope for Star Tiger is a published story or a graphical novel, but my big dream is an animated show.
