Galaxy Knot Satellite

Every planet with a human presence is fast to get an in-system satellite that works in connection with any incoming starship's Galaxy Net Box to share news from their departure systems to the Galaxy Knot Satellite system.
In more travelled systems the Galaxy Knot Satellite is incorporated in the system spacestation in combination with an office for the Terran Information Central media outlet.

Purpose / Function

Information is important for a connected society, and it is important for information to move fast.
Sending information in distances as vast as lightyears, is not as simple as a connected satellite system between solar systems, endlessly sending data between themselves, so the best logistical solution so far is to supply every inhabited system with a satellite and as many spacecrafts as possible with an automated databox, that constantly downloads news from the local system and uploads them to other satellites as they move systems.
Like the knots in a net, the Knot Satellites ties the information stream from the Net Boxes in an everflowing network (as long as ships are flying at least).

Alterations

As a system grows populated enough, building a starbase is quickly prioritized, and as that happens, the Satellite is usually incorporated in the construction - it's parabolic antenna set on the base itself.
The newer satellites are directly designed to be "slotted" into a spacestation with minimum modification needed.

Defenses

Not expected to be attacked, the satellite has no weapons or armor. It does however have a lesser AI installed intelligent enough to change the course of the satellite in case of an incoming asteroid or other objects.

History

The idea of having monitoring satellites is probably the oldest part of The Galactic Network System.

I made this world because my mind keeps rambling, and instead of stopping it, I'm riding the wave.
It started with a picture in my mind of a tiger man in a small spacecraft following a giant tiger in space, in the tone of old saturday morning cartoons and the Heavy Metal animated movie.
Then came the idea of his occational ally, a woman in space flying a small asteroid. The more I wrote on her, the more I got intrigued by the past, I deviced.
Right now the flow is focused on her background - namely all related to The Genesis Project.
I do all of the writing and almost all of the drawing myself at this point.
My hope for Star Tiger is a published story or a graphical novel, but my big dream is an animated show.
