Queen of her own castle (as she calls it), Captain Lyra is a fun loving, wenching, rough as a dog’s guts Pirate, although a little less cutthroat than some. Like Huffington of the Dardanelle, the captain of The Dark CroWo isn’t a run of the mill murder happy Pirate, preferring to board and take her pick of loot and prisoners and leave her conquests to spread tales of her infamy. That said, he won’t shirk from shedding blood if a fight looks ripe, and she’s quick to pull the trigger if the situation requires it.
Full of witty cacheisms and a complete flirt, Lyra is a member of the Bard College of Roasts, a relatively little known school that focuses on demoralising opponents with a cutting wit. Why fight an opponent hand to hand, when instead you can call their parentage into question and tilt them, THEN fight them hand to hand.
Lyra runs an all female crew, aside from her mute valet Upsiday. She’s prone to wanderlust, and has covered more space in her time than any other Pirate, and while she appears human there’s a touch of something else about her that has lead to a much longer life than she shows signs of. There’s something quite special about Lyra’s parentage, at least on one side, and she often mentions how her ‘Dear old Mum’ likes to get around, and she has a sibling or two in every system from here to the Beholder Triumvirate.
A passionate and fierce captain, she is also a deeply romantic individual and takes lovers frequently - although never from her own crew, that would be a conflict of interest. That said, Lyra is quick to report that her heart belongs to another, who gifted her The Dark CroWo, referring to them as ‘my kitsune princess’ in moments of quiet.
In battle, Lyra likes to remain in the middle of things - never far from the melee should her axe, Carnage, be of use, but never too close that she can’t throw her knife, Gracie, at a well exposed head. She sports a custom made hand cannon in one hand due to her but with her statuesque six foot six inch frame, while most medium sized humanoids would only be able to wield two handed like a crossbow.
Lyra is quick to make friends, and left quite a lasting impression on The Lightwood Company. Having a raid on Hrakhamar blamed on her left her quite aggravated with a group of pirates on Chult, and she happily poured drink down their throats while laughing with them about the dwarven massacre, before they passed out from the laced ale and she happily emptied their coffers and cells. After a bonza brawl aboard The Dark CroWo, Lyra freed several members of the company and gifted them a chest of gold, inviting them to look her up in the future should they ever cross paths. True to her word, she is one of the few allies the impromptu privateers have among the Blackrock cohort.
Lyra captivates, devastates, inspires, and demoralises like no other, her skin almost glowing with an inner light as she gets fired up be it a battle of words, ships, or sharp pointy bits. She gets knocked down, but never for long, and she’s always got a line ready to take her enemy down more than a few proverbial pegs.
A potential list of things to mention regarding characters and co-DMing stuff:
Brief origin story: Lyra has mentioned her mother left her at the Rock of Bral during her early years, where she fell in with the criminal element. Some years later, their mother dropped her sister, Kinda, off to be in Lyra's care at only five years old. Why they started adventuring: As a means or survival and support for her sister, and then later for the thrill of it all. Has that changed: Somewhat, as she gets older she is less carefree and more interested in building strong relationships and communities. Desires: Lyra is a real ladies' gal, and loves to 'chase a bit of skirt'. she also enjoys a good martial or verbal (preferably both) battle of skill. What gets a rise out of them: Slavery. when Kinda was only 7 years old a group of slavers kidnapped her, and Lyra went on a violent rampage to rescue her little sister. She abhors those that prey on the weak and do harm to others for harms sake. Notable NPCs: Lyra has not revealed her mothers name, referring to her only as 'dear old Mum' or 'Matron Bess'. She has mentioned having an array of siblings, all of whom are curiously female, but the only one she has mentioned by name is Kinda. She shares quietly that she hasn't met all of them, but she'll know them if she runs into them. Character arc so far: A raucous, friendly cutthroat, Lyra is looking to lay down more permanent roots, and potentially retire from active pirate life. What's on their mind now: Tits, gold, and occasionally 'I hope Kinda is ok.' Short-term goals: Have fun, get laid, get paid. Mid-term goals: Win Blackjammers Challenge, or at least come as close as possible. Long-term goals: Sponsor Saltine as Captain of the Dark CroWo and retire to a more sedentary life of simple pleasures, and occasional adventures.Physical Description
