Gron the Cruel is a brutal slaver and head of Blackjammer’s press gangs. Known to roam far from Blackrock between challenges, Gron’s monstrous ship, The Black Tomb, is a slaver dreadnought typically escorted by the Crimson Crow and several other ships on loan or captained by Dread Captains of the Blackrock fleet.
Lyra, Dread Captain of the Dark CroWo, has a long standing blood feud with Gron, which has escalated into violence on numerous occasions. Gron taunts the bard relentlessly, and is the only individual save Blackjammer himself that appears immune to her demotivational magicks. Lyra has vowed to strap his lifeless corpse to the front of her hammership, and pulverise it against The Black Tombs hull before hole’ing her.
Gron is a cannibal, an inhuman monster, and runs Blackjammer’s torture pits on the underside of the station. He enjoys breaking captives with a disturbing array of harms, offering them a chance to walk topside if they’ll capitulate and give him what he is after.
Visitors and residents of the station alike give him and his crew a wide berth when he stalks the boardwalks and piers of Blackrock. Thankfully he is rarely seen topside, only sparingly visiting the throne for official business.
Scuttle has that those who take up his offer are butchered wholesale in groups in the arena during closed shows, Gron’s crew of flesh eaters and withered helmsfood (his name for the individuals he powers his lifejammer helm with) the only audience as the cruel one slaughters the captives by bare hand and teeth.
Certainly, he has emerged from the arena drenched in blood on occasion, and followed by covered, foul smelling wagons.
