Yin Jia Character in Spirit of the Age | World Anvil

Yin Jia

Yin Jia is a legendary figure in Voranth, and even beyond the borders of that great empire. A mysterious woman at the heart of the court of the Twin Emperors of Voranth in Tianjing, Yin Jia is claimed to have already been alive when Nuwa's Prophet was burned at the stake. By such reckoning already over 500 years old and far past the natural lifespan of a human woman, Yin Jia is the object of many legends, rumours, and superstitions. Though the existence of Yin Jia and her presence at the court are not disputed, some claim that her longevity is the result of consorting with borderworld demons, while others say that Nuwa has gifted her with eternal life. Another theory goes that Yin Jia is actually an identity that has been adopted by different people at different times. Whatever the truth, Yin Jia is certainly one of the greatest sorcerers in the known world.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Yin Jia is not known to be a member of any prominent family, or indeed ultimately loyal to anybody except herself. Nevertheless, she has many allies. From her sycophants to those who claim to be her children, as well as those rumored to be interested in the occult, Yin Jia is her own center of power. From her long tenure at the court of Tianjing, she knows many secrets, and though many consider her an occultist and deviant who should have no place in the emperors' inner circle, few can move against her.   Yin Jia is not married as far as anyone knows, but is rumoured to take lovers as the fancy strikes her, yet refusing to tie herself down to a family. Over the centuries, there have been hundreds of people who have claimed descent from Yin Jia, but the sorceress herself has never publicly acknowledged any of these claims. In particular occultists in Tianjing llke to claim descent from Yin Jia.
