Public Treasury

The Public Treasury is a major agency for the proper functioning of the government since it is in charge of its purse. It must indeed collect money from taxes and other sources of government financing to put it in the central government account and then move them to the different departments of the executive or other organizations after the approval of the federal budget by the Parliament of the Republic.

Leadership

At the head of the bank is the General Director of the Treasury who oversees the entire organization and appoints the various subordinates who are hierarchically below this one, it is appointed by the Secretary of Finance. He is the one who acts as a link between the executive and his organization and often informs the latter whether his requests for the budget are achievable or not.

Mandate

More broadly the Public Treasury must create for the government, in cooperation with other agencies, organizations or departments concerned, the State budget on an annual basis, it will be considered effective after it is voted by Parliament of the Republic. Following this, he must transfer the amounts from sources of state funding along with Central Bank money to departments as well as lower levels and approve or refuse a possible budgetary extension coming from federal government bodies or donation of funds to other levels of government. Finally, it has an advisory role for the government's budgetary actions and supervision to check whether everything is spent as planned and that abuses are not committed.

Public Agenda

This organisation is in charge of managing the public treasury of the Republic, it must distribute the money to all agencies, public companies or ministries of the federal government. It must also redistribute tax money to the federal government of the income declaration which makes it possible to determine the income of each person, but it is often supplemented with data possessed by the government if there is fraud or false declarations.

Assets

Unlike many other agencies in the federal government, the Public Treasury concentrates its activities almost exclusively in Paris where it is headquartered. In fact, these activities alone are linked to the budget of the federal government, which therefore does not require a presence throughout the territory.
