Axis
Axis is a colossal city which sits in the center of The Nexus. It is an ancient construct of unknown origin, though bears some resemblance to the Great Hyperspace Gates of the Stellar Realm. It was settled by the Darda'il some ages ago, and activated by the Nexus-King, creating the region now known as the Nexus.
Through the strange workings of space in the Astral Realm, the Nexus, and thus Axis, is visible from anywhere within that universe. As such, it can be traveled to, and used to travel vast distances that would normally be considered improbable. This has caused Axis to be the hub of trade throughout the Astral Realm, and it is home to many of that universe's denizens. The city is impregnable even by the other powerful entities of the Astral Sea, save for through now heavily fortified, yet damaged section of the disk upon which the city exists.
Space inside the city is abnormal, as it appears to be larger within than without. To the species of the Astral Realm, the concept of a potentially infinite space inside the city's borders is an oddly normal concept.
Since the death of the Nexus-King, life in the city has become tense as it has been divided between the various Nexus-Princes, as well as other powers hoping to secure the city for their own. Numerous conflicts have broken out across the city, though none have yet to achieve dominance.
