Astral Realm
The Astral Realm, otherwise known as the Astral Sea, is an alternate universe to the 'conventional universe', known as the Stellar Realm. It is a realm of thought and energy, where the rules of conventional physics, geometry, and time need not apply. It is believed, though not confirmed, to be related to the various ideas of higher planes of spiritualist cultures, though for the most part its denizens have little in the creation or belief systems of the species of the Stellar Realm.
Though its regions are many and alien, perhaps its defining feature in that its 'space' is not black, but rather an off-white/grey/pale purple in most regions.
Typically entities of the Stellar Realm cannot enter or survive in the Astral Realm and vice-versa. However, the Akhaale are recorded to have in the past, such as in the case of the Valewalkers, and its denizens have accounts of other 'meddlers' crossing into their domain. Likewise, since the death of the Nexus-King, the various princes of the The Consortium have begun expeditions into the Stellar Realm as a potential resource to exploit in their conflict with each other.
It is believed those with psionic abilities have some connection to the Astral Realm. In addition, architecture similar to the mysterious Great Hyperspace Gates has also been discovered within the Astral Realm.
