IsoChem
Isochem is a corporate cartel organized into a multi-system conglomerate that can trace its roots to before even the Colonial Earth Empire. It is one of the orion arm's major producers of Isotope-10, making up roughly 30% of the market. Distant systems in theGreat Expanse, who had all settled industrial iso-mines realized that their position was likely to be exploited if they did not pool the wealth. So the various planetary governments, Iso exctraction companies and shipping conglomerates banded together under one united banner, IsoChem.
Because they supply over 60% of the entire Imperial and Corporate Assembly market, they exert a great amount of influence in both governments. Detractors say they are abusing their reserves to price control the Iso-10 in the regions. IsoChem was instrumental in helping found the original Corporate Assembly, and is one of the greatest proponents of keeping the Assembly from Imperial infuence.
The majority of IsoChem now is a myriad of complicated inter-clan politics and underhanded corpo back stabbing. It is rumored that many of the IsoChem executives are bought and paid for by foreign actors, like the Republican Remnant, the Red Sun Commonwealth and even the Bogoda Clans. IsoChem reiterates they are happy to trade with anyone with credits.
Their survival is based on cooperation, as Agri-Star and Harrison Armory try to chip away at the edges of IsoChem's influence. As more and more bosses are bought out, their control over the market slips, and the remaining loyalists get more and more desperate. It is not irregular to see corpo wetwork units killing executives who step too far out of line.
While IsoChem focuses on energy, years of wealth accumulation has given the conglomerate a substantial amount of financial assets. They now operate partially as the corporate assembly's largest lending institution, which makes their relationship with Agri-Star and Harrison Armory all the more complicated. The other two hate IsoChem because they are so reliant on IsoChem's goods and money.
IsoChem's militant power is less reliant on their physical forces, and moreso on their vast network of spies, omninet data smiths and robust contact list throughout the entire Mid Rim. IsoChem regularly operate behind a facade of polite society and diplomacy, meanwhile holding a dagger firmly behind their back.
Structure
IsoChem is organized along the lines of their original founding charter. There are several tiers of shareholders who control the conglomerate. The Governor's Board, made up of 64 IsoChem governor-generals, makes a majority of the decisions for the overall company. The Director's Board, made up of roughly 7500 directors, deputy-directors and commodore-directors and rule the day-to-day of isochem through massive comittees and smaller contractors.
The average IsoChem citizen is likely employed by one of these contractors, giving them a residence, pay and some other benefits depending on their title and location in the corporate ladder. Managers might be allowed additional perks like unrestricted travel, access to luxury goods and preferential housing. The typical rank and file might get a one to two bedroom hab unit and enough to get by.
The Director's comittees are the most visible form of IsoChem's sovereign authority across the Great Expanse. They can vary from extraction operations to anti-piracy security forces.
