Cardia (Karnes)

The Karnian capital of Cardia is a large, beautiful stone walled city resting at the strategic convergence of several mountain ranges and rivers. The city's walls are carved from a rare and beautiful white-gray stone, found only in a nearby quarry. The city is a bustling trade hub, the original source of its status and importance. Nearly every good in Karnes passes through the city as either raw materials or finished product.
The capital seat has rested in Cardia since the very founding of the Karnian Royal Family. The city was the central headquarters of most of Karnes's great institutions, the Karnian Adventurer's Guild, the Karnian Royal Army, the Royal Karnian Guard and the Queensguard. Since the Morin coup, the city has seen a massive decline in population and the loss of much of its former infrastructure. General Morin did retain a substantial portion of the Karnian military and so the city has slowly evolved into more of a military camp than a true city. It is only through the costly services of The Theia Commerce Group that the city retains much of its basic functioning.
The city is now the most heavily guarded area in all of Karnes, a veritable stronghold. Morin himself rules from the former castle, coordinating plans to further cement his control and drive out The Resistance.
