Bounty

The City of Bounty, once a modest village devastated by Elriza’s forces, has risen from its ashes to become a burgeoning settlement of strategic and cultural importance. Situated along the High King’s Road, it serves as a hub for trade and a waypoint for caravans supporting the reconstruction of Alaron. The War Temple, built near the end of the war, stands as both a symbol of resilience and the heart of the growing city.   In recognition of its pivotal role, Bounty has been granted greater autonomy and now falls directly under the control of House Kendrick. However, in a nod to the city’s predominantly Norlander population, a modicum of self-governance has been allowed, enabling the Norlanders to maintain their traditions and administer local matters within the framework of Kendrick’s oversight. This unique arrangement fosters both unity and cultural preservation, strengthening the bonds between Bounty’s diverse peoples.

History

The Fall of Bounty

At the start of the war, Elriza’s forces swept through Bounty, destroying homes and scattering its people. The village was left in ruin, its survivors taken under the protection of Fort Vegapath. For over a year, the area remained abandoned—a grim reminder of the war’s toll.

A New Beginning

The turning point came near the end of the war, with the construction of the War Temple. Built as a symbol of remembrance and resilience, the temple drew the attention of the surviving Norlanders and other veterans of the war. They returned to the area, bringing with them a determination to rebuild. The settlement grew quickly as more people arrived, including merchants and artisans supporting reconstruction efforts along the High King’s Road.

Geography

The City of Bounty is located along the High King’s Road, surrounded by both fertile fields and ominous landscapes. Within a mile of the city, the land is lush and productive, reclaimed for farming to support the growing settlement. Beyond this safe perimeter, however, lie more treacherous terrains.   To the west, a dense forest stretches into shadowy depths, its reputation for danger reinforced by tales of hidden ravines, strange lights, and whispers of haunting. Yet, the ruins of an ancient Elven settlement within its heart draw adventorous Ffolk seeking arcane relics and lost knowledge.   To the east lies a desolate swamp, scarred and corrupted by dark magic and the death of a black dragon during the war. Twisted trees and stagnant waters dominate the landscape, shrouded in an oppressive mist. Few dare enter, as the swamp is said to harbor an unnatural malevolence.

Economy

The economy of Bounty is fueled by its role as a waypoint for reconstruction caravans. Blacksmiths, masons, and other artisans have set up shop to meet the growing demand for tools and materials. Farmers are beginning to reclaim the land, and the market, though modest, buzzes with activity, trading goods from Norland and beyond. Veterans contribute their skills, working as laborers, guards, and craftspeople, while the War Temple serves as a hub for training and spiritual support.

Culture

The culture of Bounty reflects the rugged, independent spirit of its Norlander majority, who have brought their seafaring traditions and warrior ethos to this growing city. Their intricately carved wooden homes and communal festivals, steeped in tales of valor and resilience, set the tone for life in Bounty. Yet beneath the surface, there is a quiet restlessness among some Norlanders, who chafe at the monotony of settlement life and the lack of constant combat that once defined their existence. While the city’s governance under House Kendrick ensures stability, the Norlanders’ autonomy in local affairs helps them preserve their traditions, even as they adjust to their new role as stewards of the High King’s Road and its reconstruction efforts.
