Defence of Sto'Annus
General Summary
On their way back to Novo Sanctus, taskforce 46 were rerouted to the small world of Sto'Annus where a suspected Necron invasion or raid was taking place.
Sto'Annus is located within the Mecha sub-sector of the Sleipner Sector, along with a number of worlds that were once the domain of the Machine-God and when Waaagh! Grimskul started carving its way through the sector, and despite holding out for as long as they could, the Orks soon overran the Mechanicus world, looting what they could before moving on to other systems. With the reinforcement of the Imperial forces of the 5122nd Imperial Army , a number of Rogue Trader dynasties have either been tasked directly by the Warden and Regent of the Imperium Nihilus, Dante of the Blood Angels Chapter; or they have took it upon themselves to try to reclaim worlds for themselves, without any support from the Imperium. One such Dynasty was the House De Gama, who has headed for Sto'Annus in a hope of plundering archeotech and the vast wealth the former Forge World promised.
Not announcing their arrival to the Sleipner Crusade leadership, no one knew of their presence until the astropaths of Fort Forward all picked up a distress call from an astropath of the De Gama Household, requesting help as they were under attack by silver begins surrounded by a Green glow. Following the Shadow Ravens' contact with a Necron force on Ullr Primus the crusade leadership knew what the threat was and dispatched the nearest Imperial forces to defend the household as they evacuated the world.
Taskforce 46, led by Tempestor Prime Havelock, deployed to the surface and formed three rings of defence around the Rogue Trader's landing zone and dug in. As the Necrons approached they fought valiantly, slowly whittling numbers down with each passing volley. whilst squads from 3rd Kuati Mobile Infantry Regiment and 79th Sigman Minotaurs Tempestus Scion Regiment held their ground on the outer perimeter, receiving numerous injuries in the process, armour and artillery form the Kuati forces deployed and made the inner cordon near impossible to breach.
Not without their tricks, the Necrons tried and advanced deployment of some destroyers, who were gunned down as they surfaced for their tunnels and the flank would have fallen as guardsmen were brutally cut down by the Necron's close combat contingent, had it not been for Lieutenant Sergei Golovko standing toe to toe with the beasts long enough for heavier weapons to be brought to bear before breaking off and letting firepower take over form his power sword.
The Necrons phased out, seeing their cause lost, and allowed all of the Imperial troops and the Rogue Traders detachment to depart the world to return to the Kulak System- the taskforce was debriefed and the disbanded on Novo Sanctus , where they would gain some earned R&R before returning to duties. The Rogue Trader was summoned to Regent's Blade where discussions between Captain Raphelo and the Trader took place and the fleet was sent, under authorisation of the Lord Commander of the Imperium's Regent, to head to Baal with no diversion.
