Penitence Vosch Character in Skelleyville-verse | World Anvil

Penitence Vosch

Light-Caller Penitence Fear-Not-Falling Vosch

Dignified.   Powerful.   Penitence Vosch is a silver merle sheepdog, and her bright eyes give away the cunning that she has locked away. Her relationship with her husband, Damian, is one of true equality and adoration; their four children are cared for by their father while Penitence works at her projects.   Penitence has two children with Damian: a son, named Hammer-Of-God, and a daughter, Mercy-Over-All. Penitence cares deeply for her children, and enjoys her time at home taking care for the kids. She especially likes taking Hammer-Of-God on fishing trips, because Damian doesn't appreciate the art of reelcraft.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Penitence is a bit stout in her appearance, with strong arms and a heavy grip. She has the look of a field-working woman. Broad shoulders and long, tangled hair (that is often pulled back). Her eyes do not match, but her smile is at least promising.

Facial Features

Penitence's face is almost delicate-looking. Her brows are high, and her ears, though floppy, are high-set as well, settling on the side of her head and blending in quite well with her hair and scruff.   Her snout is both heavily freckled and sharply-ended.

Identifying Characteristics

Silver Merle in and of itself is an identifying factor.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Penitence Vosch was a cunning yet gentle soul, and this came about by virtue of her upbringing.    Her father, Zachael Mountain-Stands-Through-Strife Vosch, was a man who did not spare the rod or spoil the child. He lashed his children with switches cut from low trees and bade them walk laps with heavy stones when they misbehaved.    Penitence, so named as to prevent her having the fire and life that her older sister Triumphant-Herald possessed, learned quickly to lie and dip her head and play good and soft so as to avoid the snarling of her father.

Sexuality

Heterosexual. Penitence is also quite forward for a woman of her time, which is why she and her husband have four children (there was a fifth, but he died of a fever at the age of three).

Education

Penitence could read and write in both the common tongue as well as Aethidox's glyphic language.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Penitence is motivated by the desire to know more, to understand the world around her, to delve deep into the curious things that she has seen.
