Shoteg'Otath

After only a few minutes we arrived at the orcen camp and what I saw there even surpassed my own wonderful imagination. These savage orcs that were our leaders out of the deathly trap my party was caught in were living in a small settelemnt with beautifull carved houses. The common theme was a lizard, and as I suddenly heard a loud roar and turned to the side, I saw the reason:
Giant lizards all over the settlement, some in harnesses on the field, pulling plows like a common mule, which was impressive enough.
And then there were the riders. Behind the massive neckscales sat an equally massive orc, both mount and rider clothed metallic green in armor that would fit a knight. I have never before seen something so majestic and intimidating at the same time.

The Shoteg'Otah (literally: "Giant Lizard Prince") or simply Shoteg is a common animal in the central regions of the Ratharem Jungle deep within the subcontinent Rathram. They are without natural predators mostly peaceful if not provoked but territorial, as well as very protective of their herd. In the wild you can typically find Shoteg in herds of ten to fifteen specimen.

The orcs of the A'Shetash however were successful in domesticating the Shoteg, utilizing them in fieldwork as well as mounts. They are an essential feature of the A'Shetash Warriders, that gained mystcial fame in the explorer's communities after their discovery a few centuries ago through Gunnar Rundthorn.

From a biological point of view, the Shoteg are especially exciting, since they provide a missing connection in the developement of the Sand-Basilisik of Thiem, the Steppe-Lizards of Ethoressi and the swamp and coast dwelling Patriarch Gator, often found around the Breach, the border between Baradolia and Ethoressi. These three clearly related species had not been connected to full satisfaction, but the discovery of the Shoteg made a correct classifaction finally possible.
