Professions
The professions in Shattered Earth represent the high skill levels in society. Each of them has a pre-requisite General Skills which needs to be taken first in order to go down a Profession.
For each profession, there is a first level and second level of seniority and specialisation that players can progress to.
The Profession skills have been designed to allow free form roleplay wherever possible. No matter the profession you choose, you can ask for the following via a referee.
Information
This is a single questions to a referee, for a single answer response. The line of questioning must pertain to the profession you have, such as pertaining to the results from the use of an item you can use.
For example:
- As a Scholar, I want to use X piece of equipment to analyse X Sample. What do I find?
- As an Engineer looking at X piece of machinery, how long will it take me to fix it?
Guidance
This is a request to a referee based upon existing information obtained IC. The ref will listen to/read what has been done so far, and will give guidance to point in the right direction based on the information provided.
For example
- As a group of scholars, based on X, Y and Z we have the theory that.......'
The ref will listen to everything you have said and will give feedback on this
NOTE: You cannot ask questions or guidance on things that have nothing to do with your profession. Asking 'how do kill that monster over there I've never seen before,' will not get you an answer.
