Commander Shianan Becknam, Count of Bailaha
Shianan Becknam is the illegitimate son of King Jerome. He was raised from a small child in an outpost barracks under Captain Torg, knowing his entire life his purpose was to protect Chrenada from the marauding Ryuven and to stay out of the political eye, where he could be a liability.
Some believe his rapid rise in the military was due to clandestine favor, given his royal parentage, but it is equally true that Shianan began his military training long before others and often had a decade or two of advantage over his rivals of similar age. He is more than proficient with staff or polearm combat (and admirably competent in other forms) and has remained an instructor for troops even as he himself advanced in rank.
He is presently a commander, sometimes called "a demon commander" by veteran troops who recognize that he will push them to extremes but bring them through as safely as possible.
He is also now a count, having been brought to Alham and ennobled, though not acknowledged, by King Jerome approximately a year before Becknam was sent to retrieve The Shard of Elan. This has given him Fhure , though Becknam has not been observed to care much for the estate or for his new comital rank, having been outside the court and even the city of Alham all his life.
