The Shard of Elan

The Shard of Elan is a piece of crystalized ether, passed down through generations as a novelty or a sacred object and only recently discovered to be useful in the ongoing fight against the Ryuven, when the Great Circle used it to maintain an enormous magical shield which stretched from Alham across most of Chrenada. Unlike most shields used in combat, which have brief lives and which can be imprecisely summarized as physical barriers, the shield supported by the Shard of Elan was attuned specifically to Ryuven bodies and could be left in place for long, steady protection.
