The Record of the Arcane Lineage is separated into Books, with each Book containing the known life and times of the named Arcane Lord. Arcane Lord, in this text, can refer to two types of members from this bloodline so we will distinguish them here and now. A Named Arcane Lord is a member of this lineage who is the 1st born of the previous firstborn bearing the correct number. Lord Bālphus, The Purple Mage, is first in his line and is the 1st Arcane Lord. A normal Arcane Lord refers to any and all other members of the lineage.

Each Book will be broken into Chapters following the major events of the life of the Book Writer. On the topic of Book Writers, the authorship of this text can be called into question. The Record was not written or collected by one person or party and serval variations of many of the Books exist. This text serves as the version that contains the most similarities between the known various versions.
