Sanctuary

Inside the confines of a Sanctuary zone, any person or creature that dies by violent or unnatural means returns to life at dawn the next day.   Deaths caused by events such as poisoning or falling from a height are considered unnatural. Deaths via old age or sickness are considered natural.

Manifestation

If the corpse is returned to viability through healing techniques before dawn, the individual will simply re-inhabit their original body. If the body is not viable, or has been destroyed (such as via cremation or consumption), the body re-manifests (or "refreshes") at the closest star shrine to their demise. The previous corpse then dissipates into dust, leaving behind any clothing or gear.   If the individual is a member of a sapient species, they refresh wearing a white cotton tunic and beige trousers.

Localization

The Sanctuary effect only functions properly inside of a Sanctuary zone. Dying outside of a Sanctuary zone produces unsavory side effects, such as resurrecting without a soul, resurrecting with another entity possessing the body, or simply not returning to life at all.   Another problem arises if someone were to have the misfortune of being too close to a star shrine situated outside of a Sanctuary zone, because if their corpse is not returned to viability there is a chance that the non-functioning star shrine might attempt to manifest their new body, which risks an unfavorable outcome.
