Kipp "Gnasty Tooth" Gartside was an ordinary down-on-his-luck merchant from a small Alfayan village until he grew bored with his life and moved to Tyria in search of greater purpose. The then mercenary's penchant for swordplay/collecting and novel ways of making citrus-coated treats quickly caught the attention of Tyria's navy, who asked him to join their services as a privateer in the midst of a scurvy epidemic. Feeling like this was his calling (or at least give him the money to fulfill it), he was all too happy to oblige.
