Personal history

Avverion was born to a family of prominence, the Aedui Clan, composed of the Ithilvanúr , based in the east of elvish lands. His father, Galathern, was a leading trader in the region, primarily based out of the twin cities at the base of Dragon Sword Peak. The family’s claim to fame was monopolizing the dye trade, responsible for nearly 60% coming into or out of the elven lands. His mother, Teriani, was an important factor by binding the Aedui to the last child of his mother’s, the Yvrite, which owned substantial portions of the dye business and oversaw some of the more lucrative trade deals. Although the marriage was political in nature, they would prove to be a compatible and charismatic couple, never reaching the point of true romance however. After many years together, they would have two children, both sons. As was in the traditions of the family culture, the first born, Ayas, was groomed to be the heir to his father’s business empire, with the younger, Avverion, representing the clan’s honor and integrity in the military.   Due to the wealth and influence of his father, Avverion was conscripted into the Marchfilwyr, or Cavalry, of the Elyn'aran military. There he proved himself proficient and quickly mastering many martial weapons, forms, and techniques, preferring polearms and the longbow. He was a gregarious youth, making good friends with many of his peers with many noting his friendliness and integrity in and out of combat. Despite the admiration, he was oft deemed lesser by his Anorenúr peers. Perhaps due to an intolerance by an elitist sun elf dominated society, he conflicted often with those less accepting of moon elves as equals.   He had two incredibly close companions in this time, Gaelin and Lilinith. Gaelin and Avverion were long time childhood friends, growing up together in Din’Sundo, and fostered a friendly rivalry, playfully attempting to one up the other in a show of sport. Gaelin’s natural physique alone led to his appointment into the calvary, despite his moon elven heritage and the two could be found together constantly. Lilinith was Avverion’s young romance. Despite her sun elf heritage, the two were deeply in love, often be seen together off duty, sneaking out of the barracks, a hopeless pair of troublemakers. Lilinith grew up in a progressive household that encouraged the combined history of elven kind beyond the scope of racial hierarchy, with the sun elven head. Avverion’s skill and kindheartedness, even to his enemies, caught her attention, finding him sweet and romantic. Her infatuation with one of lower blood standing led to isolation from her peers, but this introduced Avverion to other people of all creeds who wanted change.   No matter what happened to Avverion, he never wished ill fate toward his elven cousins despite his personal loathing of his own ill treatment. He wished to change things meticulously and diplomatically, getting his desires properly, as ingrained by his family. One factor of dissension Avverion felt with his family however was pushing beyond equality, and changing the hierarchy to favor the previously downtrodden. Two evils did not birth a good after all. His father often cited his own life experiences, noting he was once the lowliest of merchants, often trampled on by those above him, and now, he was in charge, with those who once jeered at him begging his audience instead now.   This came to influence the Avverion and several other likeminded individuals to believe that although the Sun Elves were the inheritors of the Sildenúr legacy, the moon elves were the majority total population, and should be in more positions of power or prominence. Even the spawn of a sun and moon elf, the fabled Rochonúr Knights for that matter. They were all civilized elves after all, they should work together as equals.   • Civil War   When the war began there was much confusion and chaos in the realm. Tales told of wealthy sun elves attacked, publicly abused and executed. Retaliation just as fierce from the ruling class struck the moon elves, and the spanning racial rift began to bleed. The military was called to put down the rebelling people, but to horror, many companies openly deserted, and turned their arms against Elyn’aran. Avverion was among the many who joined the cause of the moon elves, calling for equality among the elvish people, bloodshed necessary for change. The suddenness left many of the populous in shock. While almost every elf has some martial training, with the sword and the bow, there were few professional soldiers among the moon elven cause but the tide of manpower was not to be underestimated.   As the war raged on for years, the once green and optimistic warrior Avverion began to morph, along with many of his fellows. The tragedy of racial civil war, the killing of familiar people, and the mutilation of war left Avverion scarred and tormented by nightmares and horror. The tide of the war became certain for the moon elven side when on the banks of the Velious River, he bore witness to the greatest engines of war ever brought to bear, dragons. To tame a dragon, let alone a flight of them, routed the Elyn’aran loyalists, thousands burning, melting and drowning on that field as the dragons brought desolation to their enemies. Impossibly, moon elves had discovered a way to submit the flying terrors of legend to their will, and now used the most powerful weapon the world had ever seen. Many of the other elves surrendered immediately following the first show of force. Many knew they could not match such power and either retreated to the shadows or laid down their arms, submitting to the new nation Veliuona .   • Post-Civil War   After the wars had ended Avverion was hopeful for a brighter future for elven kind. His father had contributed great sums of funds towards the reconstruction and founding of Veliuona, and this influence bestowed Avverion with the offer of joining the reestablished Wyvern Guard. Others from his previous station had been given this honor, including a handful of sun elves that had fought with the rebellion. At first things seemed to be optimistic, many were happier now that the fighting, at least at large scale, had subdued. However, Avverion realized that instead of equality, the moon elves had come to dominate the realm becoming the masters they once destested. The previous order was ripped apart in a show of bloody fervor, tempered by ancient revenge. Even those with neutral positions were being removed and the ruling consul had coincidentally failed to invite any sun elves onto it. Once they had secured their place, they purged of anyone associated with the pro-Elyn’aran forces, or with any sympathies toward the old order. Many of these elves Avverion knew personally, people who had fought on the side of the rebellion were now being discarded for whatever reason, called enemies of the state. Lilinith was among those imprisoned due to her family and heritage, her race the sole reason for treachery.   Avverion knew he needed to act. His friend Gaelin devised a plan and gathered together those that they could trust most, of any kind. Their group were disillusioned by the new order, disgusted by the revolution they fought and bled for corrupted. They would fight back, releasing those wrongfully imprisoned, and fight back against the injustice. For everyone involved, they did not want a hegemony but a shared vision for the future. The plan was to break out the various leaders imprisoned by the moon elf forces and bring them to the consul to hash out a compromise once and for all elves, not just for sun or moon. The group of ten sneaked their way into the prison in Cael'akadi, but disaster struck as one of Avverion’s compatriots slipped on a stairway, alerting the guards to intruders.   After a pitched fight, half were dead with little to show, and the band fled the city. Avverion left with Gaelin and Lilinith on the back of his wyvern, tearing eastward in their flight. Gaelin suggested that they needed to warn the continent of the danger brewing from their homeland, of the dragon riders. The danger Veliuona brought to her neighbors was immense, and if Elyn’aran could fall before a flight of dragons, what chance did the unprepared nearby nations have. Their discussion concluded with Lilinith insisting that they each flew in separate directions to throw any hunters off their trail, to disappear into the countryside of a foreign land.   Once Avverion had flown some distance he sent his wyvern, Gwynadora, away, knowing she would be a giveaway to his identity should someone find them together. He had landed in the Stormlord’s Roost, alone for the first time in his life, in a strange land that could soon become very hostile to someone of his complexion. He had seen Masovia in only a map once, but it would have to serve as a hiding place. Hunger, thirst, and exposure became his foe now, a boy from wealth now a penniless man, with the edge of his blade deciding if he was likely to eat and sleep that night. The war haunted him, the one he fought in, and the one chasing his future. Perhaps someday he would reunite with his best friends, perhaps he could return home in honor.   Perhaps someday.
