salt elementals

Salt elementals are the most common of the so called "twisted elementals" or "inverse elementals", elementals corrupted by the energy of the Void. Salt elementals are the inverse or twisted version of common water elementals.   Salt elementals look like vaguely humanoid slimy dark gray blobs. They are as fast and agile as common water elementals and can pour themselves through tiny holes and gaps just like common water elementals.   Just like with regular water elementals, most salt elementals only last a few hours or a few days before disapated, a few weeks in unusual circumstances. Unfortunately, areas that spawn salt elementals tend to spawn many salt elementals over and over again. Usually these areas are tainted areas with lots of mundane salt or perpetual dryness.   Salt elementals absorb and destroy moisture from everything in their vicinity. Like other inverted elementals, as creatures of the Void they are instinctually hostile towards living beings and prioritize drawing moisture from living creatures over inanimate sources, all else equal though they will prioritize attacking uncorrupted water elementals above all.   Normal spells and effects that control mundane elementals or mundane undead are at +3 difficulty though a character able to command both undead and elementals can try to command a salt elemental at only +2 difficulty.   Some Infernalists and Void demons are said to be able to command salt elementals quite easily.     Typical Small Salt Elemental Stats
