History
Dour Shore once stood in the shadow Voltun, The Red Menace. As Homunculi began coming ashore in the late 1600's, Voltun began to terrorize the threat on his domain. Being so close to such a prevalent threat while still having many veterans from The Civil Rebellion, the newly formed monarchy declares war on Voltun. The war lasted nearly 30 years with the Homunculi from the then capital of Wellsport standing victorious.
With the kingdom inheriting Voltun’s trove as its bounty, House Nelson decided it to be more prudent to build a fortress over Voltun's former lair and its treasure. Now known as Cliffside Castle, this fortress became home to House Nelson and is used as a means of protecting itself and its citizens in time of war. With two large ports now accessible to the Freefolk, Dour Shore grew rapidly over the years taking it to today where it is considered one of the cultural hubs of the world.

Geography
Dour Shore is nestled right in the center of the Gulf of Dour off the ocean coast of the Kas Zelvak Ocean.
Dour Shore is built on a small valley before Mount Voltun with Cliffside Castle itself nestled inside the mountain face. The crumbling stairs is a small rocky plateau in between the mountain and the valley.
North and east of Voltun mountain are The Paradise Plains. This expanse of grass and grain make up most of the land of Dour due to the thick limestone preventing most trees to grow well.
To the south is a penninsula of the Gulf of Dour. Most of which is part of the Peatlands, a peat riddle bog filled with nefarious creatures and goblins. Jaymesport is at the tip of the said peninsula, being a more infamous port town to the one of Dour Shore, this is a more popular point of entry for contraband and illicit goods.
