Army on The March

After the chaotic events in Dolaris, Sonaranth encourages you to stay in the The Sapphire Library for a little while before heading off to retrieve the Tome of Ages from the Orange Legion.  Then, after a good long rest, she provides you with her three fastest horses, and you head off following the beacon that she made.

Plot points/Scenes

  • The rearguard - The Viridian wing has bunkered down for a bit in the space between two rocky cliffs. As the party nears them, the beacon flares brightly and then dies out altogether, clearly no longer useful for tracking. The rearguard is keeping a wary eye out for anyone who might try to attack from the rear and will attack anyone not clearly affiliated with the Orange Legion. The rearguard is composed of 5 members:
    • Angmar Drake is a 20-year-old female human spear-wielder (Cultist) with short, wavy, gray hair and brown eyes. She is always very calm, slightly lazy, and she judges people on their fighting skills.
    • Josselyn Mistsplitter is an 18-year-old female human scimitar-wielder (Acolyte) with long, wavy, auburn hair and gray eyes. She is quick to forgive, very cowardly, and she has very little practical experience.
    • Peter Chaucer is a 40-year-old male human demolitions expert (Cultist) with extremely long, curled, blond hair and golden eyes. He judges people by their actions, not their words, always knows where to hide, and he knows all the gossip around camp.
    • Rose Cloudfang is a 53-year-old female half-elf longsword wielder (Veteran). She has long, wavy, dyed orange hair and brown eyes. She is very benevolent, very slow to trust other people, and she works hard to play hard afterward.
    • Terrowin de Mowbray is a 35-year-old male half-elf defender (Acolyte) with cropped, wavy, brown hair and brown eyes. He has a highly variable mood, doesn't care about risks or odds, and he gets very mad at any semblance of an insult.
  • The Main Camp - The main camp is laid out in a horseshoe-like shape, with probably 100ish tents. The situation at the camp is confused and security is lax; the Viridian Rogue is missing, and no one knows what happened to him. Although a couple of the Legionnaires might recognize the party from Dolaris (DC 10 charisma against Isabel Boulderdown or Funryn Valesnath, DC 5 against anyone else), the main danger is being clocked as an outsider due to not wearing the cloaks of legionnaires. The camp will stay in place for one dinner, sleep, and breakfast, after which the camp is packed up and the dragons take wing again. At any time during the night, the camp will go on high alert if murdered bodies are found.
  • If the party is discovered as intruders, they will be taken prisoner, and have the chance to speak with the one other prisoner in the camp, a dwarf named Genhe from Dolaris. The wizard has been researching the Orange Legion and was working with Thrinain to track their movements. The legionnaires snatched her from the docks where she was helping to harvest Spikefin Oil when they arrived. A Legionnaire has been assigned to guard her, and her absence will be noted within 5 min and the camp will go on high alert. Genhe may drop a hint about the Sapphire Eyetooth if the players indicate that they are not part of the Orange Legion, but will quickly clam up after mentioning it.
  • Wing's Nest - Pile of six juvenile green dragons sleeping in a secluded corner of the camp. Next to them is a pile of harnesses that are clearly designed to allow the dragons to carry 16 people via dangling ropes. Each dragon is wearing a burnt orange choker woven with arcane symbols, and if roused the dragons will not speak or respond to anything other than commands from the Viridian Rogue. The chokers each have names embroidered on them - Emerald, Mint, Jade, Forest, Lime, and Vermillion
  • Additional Information:
    • Drimnovui Viridian was originally on a scouting mission for something other than the Tome of Ages, but no one in camp knows what, just that it is suspected to be affiliated with the ocean.
    • The Viridian wing is a portion of the Orange Legion that answers directly to the Viridian Rogue, although usually they are sent on missions with him. This contingent is about a seventh of the full Viridian wing.
    • Viridian, the dragon that Drimnovui rode into Dolaris, has already headed back to the Hatchery, ahead of the rest of the wing.
    • Enereg Aerabriniel was Drimnovui's second in command
