House Stormborn

Before magic was discovered, the Stormborns were not even a powerful family, they were simply a group of scholars and leaders of expeditions through the land, and did few things of note... until their discovery of the Darkwater Chest.
House Stormborn is a unique organization in the Runic Houses. Their leader through all of the Simonian Age has been Lofus Stormborn, the most powerful dwarf in the world, by many reckonings. The Stormborn Duke and his house holds such sway due to the fact that they control the Void Ink and the majority of Charms and Runes in the Bay of Evandyr. The Arcane Conservatory is under their control, and through it they control most knowledge in the land.
After arcane magic was rediscovered with the Darkwater Chest, the Houses all changed. House Stormborn deposed the old leader of Golryon and Lofus took the city for his own as it's Duke. Lofus has ruled Golryon and the Stormborn house with an iron fist, reforming the house into a controlling one of the most powerful mages in the known world, as they are more trusted than those outside the House. It is not applicable to say that the Stormborn House rules Golryon, for that is simply Lofus. The precedent for the most powerful mage to overthrow the old ruler and take over the city has been set, and when Lofus dies, the city may fall into chaos until that happens again, for Lofus is not known for his many heirs.
In current events, the government of Golryon, namely Lofus, gave a large amount of magical tattoos to the people of Gol, upwards of a thousand. All of these commonfolk became suddenly much more powerful, and that magic began changing the land. Rules and laws on the actions allowed by Wielders began to be much more strict, and many people are either afraid of these arcane wielders, or if they are one, of the government which watches them so closely. House Stormborn is frantically searching for ways to better control renegade Wielders and Arcanists, rather than simply just hiring mercenaries to send after them.
