Inner Sea

A large sea that separates Vanareon and Ardaling.  This was once an inland sea (hence the name), but mighty magics shattered the lands and sank them below the waves, leaving the scattered islands that now remain. Since the Sundering, the Azure Empire has dominated the southern reaches of the Inner Sea (and the Azure Sea). Latterly the Ilsig Empire once dominated the northern reaches of it, and planted colonies on the Ardaling coasts, but with the destruction of the Ilsig empire by Ranke, that domination is gone. The Rankans are more focussed on their eastern border with the Theocracy of Chalke than they are with a few remnant ilsig colonies far across the sea.
It is noted for its fierce storms and cold waters, said to be the after-effects of the magics that destroyed the Dark Empire.
