In the Rankan Empire, a Baron is someone who holds a fief directly from the Rankan Emperor himself.
Appointment
Barons are appointed directly by the Rankan Emperor himself and must swear fealty in person.
Duties
Barons are required to maintain their fiefs, pay taxes and supply troops as specified in their deed of appointment.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
A Baron may be unfoeffed at any time by the Rankan Emperor.
