Families of the Adrift
When ships are lost at sea entire crews become consigned to Procan's depths. Very often some or all of that crew come from the same family, and storms and catastrophes are known to claim multiple ships at once.
For those left behind ashore there isn't always a direct course ahead. Some are unable to recover from their grief or the burdens of their loss. Some quickly slip into destitution. Yet this plight is one readily recognized by all Salts because they know a similar fate is all too imaginable for themselves.
As Procan keeps what He has taken, Saltmarsh gladly provides for its own. Thus the Families of the Adrift was formed as a local charity to help keep these unanchored folk going.
Administered by the Oweland family, the charity was recently looking to turn the old Punnid Mansion, whose family was entirely lost at sea, into a boarding house for the Families of the Adrift, but the Crown bought the estate up to serve its needs.
