Morethalas (mor-EH-tha-lass)

Morethalas is a country in Northeastern Isera which borders Epron to the south and west. It was created under the Treaty of Abderaliana in 1181 and includes the territory of the former Kingdom of Eshor as well as territory conquered from Epron during The Great War.
Although control of the territory was originally given to the Elven government in Lylaenatalos, a series of conferences took place between 1181-1183 and the current constitution was signed on 3.24.1183 and officially named the country the Confederation of Original Nations in Morethalas. This constitution returned total authority of land use and territory to the Orcish tribes that have lived in the area for millennia. Several smaller tribes that had been sublimated into the three largest reservations were given land in the new southern half of the country. Larger cities like the Triumvirate, Laststall, and Treuham were declared independent city-states in the confederation.
The first several years of Morethalas' existence were full of tense conflicts as power was transferred from the former Kingdom of Eshor and Epron to newly empowered localities and city-states. There were particularly brutal conflicts along the former southern border of Eshor and Epron, and in the heartland of the former Eshor as racially charged Eshorians resisted their new Orcish governments.

Structure

Morethalas is a confederation of independent governments who act together for the purposes of international trade, diplomacy, and defense. The primary organizations within Morethalas are the Elven Monarchy, the Gorgo, Mug, and Zugugh Orcish tribal governments, the Triumvirate, and the independent cities of Treuham, Laststall, and Kirchkirchen. The elected, appointed, or hereditary leaders of those organizations confer in Lylaenatalos once a year to establish external policy for the confederation.

Culture

Morethalas is incredibly diverse culturally as its territory is under drastically different governmental structures internally. The Confederate government is highly dedicated to this diversity and to building up the cultural power of the indigenous Elves and Orcs after centuries of colonization by Eshor.

History

The name Morethalas comes from the ancestral homeland of the Elvish people in the north of the country. Elves and Orcs have lived in the territory of Morethalas for millennia and were un-contacted by other races until the Wars of Expansion and the War of Eshorian Conquest (425-457). With the establishment of the Kingdom of Eshor in 457, the Elves and Orcs were pushed into smaller and smaller territories within what is now Morethalas and were subjugated until the Orcish Law Crisis of 1160, and the Morethalan Rebellions (1117-1181).

Territories

Morethalas' northern and eastern borders are the North Sea. It's western borders begins at the first frost on the Northern Coast, and extends south. The southern border begins directly south of Kirchkirchen and extends west until it intersects with the western border. This territory is slightly more than double that of the Kingdom of Eshor.
