Laststall (LAZ-ALL)
The city of Laststall sits at the point that the Quiet River feeds into the Sea of Eshor. As the kingdom of Eshor’s main port it funnels millions of gold pieces through its’ winding streets every year. North of the Quiet River lies the majority of the citizenry but every half-mile northward the culture drops a step until you’re in the Squalors where only the poorest of shiphands and unlucky fishermen scrape out a living. South and Eastward lie the university and the Arena. Many a Northsider has tried their luck in the Arena hoping to earn fame and fortune but only a couple stumble out alive. The luckiest Laststallians get into the University and get positions in the Merchants Guilds who rule the city under the lazy eye of the local feudal lord Molmarika Oakenshield. If the more racist views of the citizenry are to be believed, then Molmarika’s Dwarven nature makes her too lazy and focused on her personal projects to notice the larger world around her. All the people know is that faced between a Merchant Guild “Collections Team” and a Laststall city guard patrol, they would all choose the city guard.
If you asked the locals how they felt about the rule of King Tarquin Undermere, most would not know how to react besides "Well he's the king". A couple might look to his more diplomatic father, and a couple more might mention how his elven wife has recently left him right as the elven homeland of Morelthalas is talking of secession. Northward or around the university you might see pro-elven graffiti. But most of the people are content to try to climb the ranks of society, pitch a couple copper at the arena or even a few silver at the stocks in the Traders Hall and try to win it big. This is Laststall after all, if you can't make it here, it'll be the last place you rest for a while.

Government
Laststall is the ducal seat and largest city of the Duchy of Laststall. The Oakenshield Family has ruled Laststall since the founding of the city in 463 and Molmarika Oakenshield currently holds the seat. The Ducal government receives taxes from the citizens and enterprises of the city and funds the City Guard, road and dock construction, and civil defense maintenance.
Industry & Trade
The most important exports of Laststall are lumber, lumber products, and boats. The Forestmore family controls most of the city's lumber production. Apart from some independent and ducal shipyards on the East Side, most shipyards and shipwrighting is handled by the Albenne family. These two families are notably not considered nobility and are also not members of the Merchant's Guild.
Other important industries include transporting goods to other parts of Eshor along the Quiet River and King's Road and packing and shipping goods out to other nations via the Northern Sea.
Located in Merchant's Alley, the @Trader's Hall is a stock exchange that trades on goods prices, futures, and invests in shipping expeditions.
Guilds and Factions
The Merchant's Guild of Laststall is as, or about as, important as the ducal government. A Merchant's Guild 'Collections Team' is equal to a city guard in enforcement. The Guild controls all aspects of day-to-day commerce in the city including importing and exporting goods, setting prices, overseeing the Trader's Hall and ensuring the city's economy against market whims.
The Most Right and Noble Company of Assassins, Killers, and Hemolurges operates out of a brothel in Fort Ranniact and regulates murder and assassinations throughout the city. Non-guild work is highly frowned upon especially on the East Side.

History
463: Laststall was founded by Tarren Undermere through the creation of the Duchy of Laststall and the erection of Castle Greyscale. The natural bay, still waters, and location at the mouth of the Quiet River made it an important location to secure. Thavrod Oakenshield was the first Duke of Laststall.

Geography
Laststall sits at the mouth of the Quiet River into the Northern Sea. The clear force of the Quiet River pushes boats out of Laststall Bay quickly, but only provides a minor influence over incoming craft.
Natural Resources
Laststall is at the border of the Morethalas forests and is blessed with strong, quickly growing, forests northward that fuels the shipyards of the city. Food products from further west fuel the outward economy.
