Çarimbal Palace Guard

Palace Guard is an elite military unit responsible for guarding the The Tower of Sunset, the temple and palace complex in Çarimbal (New Tower).

Appointment

The members of the palace guard are chosen among the loyal and successful veterans of the army, and the king's supporters. The Guard is essentially the king's private army, and he needs to have their full loyality to be able to trust them.

Responsibilities

The Palace Guard is responsible for guarding the Temple Complex, including both the religious facilities, as well as the palaces. They also patrol in the temple gardens. They are supported by the City Watch during ceremonies that draw more people to the temple.
They are also responsible for observing the priests and other employees of the temple to make sure they are not participating in any suspicious or potentially rebellious behaviour, that good be dangerous for the king's life.
The palace guard rarely has to participate in actual fighting. Their duty is mostly just about standing on guard, and occasionally driving away groups of commoners or arresting too curious teenagers.

Composition

Equipment

They wear spectacular ceremonial armor. Lots of colours and expensive metal equipment. While the normal army wears mostly red, the colour of war, the palace guard is glad in formal blue tunics. The senior officers are marked with yellow associated with old age and seniority

Weaponry

Short sword, spear and shield. The weapons are mostly ceremonial, and rarely need to be used.

Structure

The Palace Guard is under the command of the king. The commanders of the guard respond straight to him, or the king's advisors.
