Silvermaw

Silvermaw, also known as the Great Gate City of the Golden Sea, is a large dwarven hold set into the Ethereal Peak mountain at the center of Infinis. Linked via the grand burrow to Gilmmerholde it is the home to many dwarven houses under the banner of the children of the axe.   While it is still mainly populated by Dwarves and Gnomes , many travelers have made their home in the open upper tier as well. This has lead to an increase in foreign races living inside the city walls, to the great discontent of many of the more isolationist Dwarven populace.

Dwarf (65%), Gnomes (15%), Human (10%), Other (10%)

Government

The city is lead by Conspector Bolvil Greatbelly as the official representant of the children of the hammer. He reports directly to the Ashenforge ruling house of Glimmerholde and is advised by Stonespeaker Gondil Vorkis, the local high priest of Silvermaw.

Infrastructure

The Great Gate City is well defended through its natural location at the mountainside. To even get to the city from the open land, one has to venture for many miles across inhospitable desert before reaching its well defended walls . Passage through the gate leads to the Centre Ring, where the Great Hall is located as well all of the residential and trading areas open to non dwarves. The venture deeper into the city, one must descend several hundred stairs to reach the first plateau, also known as the Middle Ring. Home to most of the working classes it is a small town in its own right, equipped with housing and all the amenities required for subterranean life. Below this is the second plateau where some of the richest and most powerful dwarves have made their home . Finally depper still are all of the mine workings as well as what will become the 3rd plateau once this depth is exhausted of material.   Inside the city all roads and buildings are made of thick stone and the different sections of the town are separated by well defendable gate houses, making it increasingly difficult for invaders to pass the Great Gate City .
