Its key component Elerium is not as common on the surface as it is on the floating islands, so any surface manufacturers have to pay a premium to buy it from the islands or risk exhausting their limited supply. This is especially true of Infinis, who have a good but limited supply of Elerium. The largest deposit being on the coast where the settlement of Dawabala is situated, this is also the location of the Magitech factory. Everyone that lives there either works in the mines, at the factory or supports one of these two functions in some way. The military has a large base there exclusively to protect this location and large parts of the town are off limits to outsiders. Sky ships land daily at its small port to either take away finished goods to sell or to drop off raw materials to aid in the manufacturing process The factory and Mine use a lot of native indentured workers onsite as the manufacturing side does require a large amount of physical labour and it keeps costs down, the Mine as well is almost exclusively indentured workers. Skilled workers are used at both sites, in the factory it's in the construction of goods, transport and general running of the place. For the Mine it is mostly the management and safety of it that has paid individuals
