The Endless Depth

The Endless Depth is a vast, unimaginably deep sinkhole-like pit located directly under the Pit City Of Verbar. What lies at the bottom of the pit, if there is a bottom, is currently unknown, though speculation on what may be there ranges from solid ground to a vast hidden treasure to even a Portal to one of the other planes of existence.
The Endless Depth, along with the Pit City itself, has become a rather significant tourist attraction due to both the fact that it is considered a Place of Power and the fact that certain rare herbs grow here exclusively. It is also used by the locals as a burial ground, dropping caskets containing bodies of their dead into the pit as part of their rituals of death.

Valuables

Rumors of vast piles of precious metals and gemstones have been circulating around the Endless Depth longer than any can remember, though none who have tried to reach the bottom of the pit to confirm these theories have made it.

History

Little is known about the history of the Endless Depth, due to it having been around since anyone can remember. The great trees that cover the expanse are known to have fallen within the first one hundred years of the After Restructuring era.
