Pseudospacial Warp Tunnels

Pseudospacial Warp Tunnels, or PWTs, are a technology similar to Portals with several major differences. Like portals, PWTs transport matter (primarily non-living matter) from one place to another, though unlike portals they cannot be used to travel to different planes. PWTs also usually have a much shorter range than portals, with only the most advanced and expensive PWTs allowing for distances greater than 10 kilometers.   Unlike most portals, damaged or cheap PWTs can be incredibly dangerous to living creatures. Due to the nature of their design, a living creature traveling through a PWT may be spat out far earlier than intended, causing the creature to possibly fall from a significant height or be buried alive. The PWT can also damage one's body heavily, causing injuries ranging from mild lacerations and bruises to complete dismemberment. This is caused by the faulty PWT not causing a creature's body to completely enter The Ethereal Plane, which causes parts of their body to collide with the objects in between one point and another. This causes no damage to the objects in mention, however.

Utility

PWTs are used primarily as portable portals, though usually only for inanimate objects or the byproducts of creatures as opposed to living creatures.
Access & Availability
PWTs in their most basic form are commonly found in more tribal races, such as Goblins, though safer versions are much rarer and much more expensive.
Complexity
PWTs are incredibly complex even in their simplest forms and require many hours of work to create.
Discovery
PWTs were designed by gnomish engineers working at the mines in Whitesmith as a way to transport ore and workers in and out of the mines quickly and safely. Unfortunately, the safely part did not work as intended, which caused PWT use on sentient creatures to be banned shortly after their creation and remain banned to this day.
