Mudtown

The Free Town of Mudtown is an independent coastal city-state on the northeast coast of Shurima and to the west of Bilgewater. Due to it's location, it seen investment from foreign powers such as Bilgewater, Noxus, and Piltover each trying to keep ahead of the others.

Demographics

There are an estimated 5000 individuals that call Mudtown their home with many transient visitors as a stop for trade or for gambling.

Government

Town Council. Mudtown is governed by a small council of four elected officials. Each member represents different aspects of the towns interests.

Defences

Mudtown currently has roughly 100 well-trained warriors that serve as the town, each wearing studded leather marked with the town guard's badge and is captained by Eliander Fireborn. Additionally, the town maintains a small marine force to defend the local waters from any hostile naval forces looking to break the peace.

Industry & Trade

While Mudtown may look like a salt crusted town that reeks of fish, there is plenty of opportunity the people to fill their coffers. For more than a century, fishing vessels of Mudtown have worked the rich fishing grounds along the coast with more folks contributing to the industry than any other. Mudtown's other prosperous industry is also its namesake, the clay rich mud surrounding the area. They are the sole producer of most of the bricks that Piltover imports.
Its position along the coast pushes most of the traffic heading towards Bilgewater to stop through their port. The other side of this coin is that many of the illegal goods travelling between Bilgewater and Zaun make their way through the town, making a good market for smugglers.
A recent addition to Mudtown's boom is the discovery of silver mines to the southeast of the town in the hills. Despite skepticism from locals, the mine has started to yield silver in growing quantities, and there are even some thinking there may be gold as well.

Points of interest

Taverns

  • The Wicker Goat. Oldest tavern in town and popular hangout for miners and guards. Two-story bulding a tavern on the lower level and lodging on the second level.
  • Empty Net. A rickety tavern down by the harbor. Cheap place to stay and even cheaper food.
  • The Snapping Line. Popular inn and tavern made of decommissioned fishings ships. Has a predictably nautical theme inside down to the smell of fish that never seems to quite go away.

  • Kester's Leather Goods (Tannery). A local tannery that produces a variety of leather for every purpose and sells both the cured hides and the items she fashions from them. Also interested in acquiring hides from exootic creatures - will pay in gold for well harvested hides of rare creatures.
  • Winston's Store (General Store and Maps). The general store open most days that generally has all your general needs. Generally.
  • Green Market (Assorted Groceries). A more food and daily wellbeing related market. Get your goats, eggs, and veggies. Also mules and oxen for pulling carts and whatnot.
