Rinqel (rin-qel)
Rinqel is a young community, built when the humans came to take Krak'tex before they moved into the region properly. It was built as a fort 400 m above sea level in the hills but has grown into a quiet little town, using the hills to its advantage to keep the town safe in the bowl. It’s a remote outpost with a handful of bored soldiers and their families that has slowly evolved to become this little hill town as more people found it.
The town grew around the temporary headquarters that became a permanent building and also where the Captain ran things when he was left in charge of the outpost when the army marched into the region. Now the descendant of that Captain runs this place.
The town is made up of clay brick buildings on stilts, which keep them cool and so they don't get flooded in the wet season. The roofs are made out of a thickly woven thatch and are heavily sloped to keep the rain out.
Water is harder to come by because of how dry the climate is, but they have found hidden water pools under the hills, which they have made into communal wells, and the largest became a bathhouse. They also use the water to stop any fires that might catch the thatch roofs. It doesn't happen often because the buildings are built apart, so it's easier to contain when it does.

The farms, mines and quarries are the main exports of the town, and so are also the main source of work. Occasionally, a wandering trader comes across the town and gives them more exciting things to buy, but there's no official market.
Districts
The districts aren't strict; this is just where the buildings ended up as it slowly got built up. The locals called the different parts these, so they caught on.
Carpenters Wall:
This is the main part of the small town with the majority of buildings.
Headquarters: The main offices for the town guard; the headquarters is a single large building. Typically, the headquarters holds the offices of the high-ranking guards and any administrative members of the organisation. Guards might report to headquarters before and after shifts to check in with their superiors or to retrieve or return issued equipment. Any records, such as arrest records, guard rosters, shift rotations, and incident reports, are kept at the guard headquarters, and any evidence collected over the course of an investigation can also be found here, likely under lock and key. The headquarters is typically teeming with guards, both on and off duty. Attempting any sort of criminal activity or disruptive shenanigans within or near the headquarters likely results in a quick response from the guards.
Haunted Gate:
This is where the people say the more 'undesirables' are, yet also very needed.
Northern Slums:
The bit of the town outside the main walls and is mainly farmland.
White Town:
This part of town is built into the hillside, which is why it's outside the town.
