Structure

The Vimor Empire operates under a hierarchical system of governance, with Emperor Ashur Vimor reigning supreme as the absolute ruler of the realm. Below the Emperor, a tiered structure of authority and administration governs the empire's affairs, ensuring the implementation of imperial decrees and policies across its vast territories.   Emperor: At the apex of the organization structure stands Emperor Ashur Vimor, wielding unparalleled authority and wielding both political and magical power. As the supreme ruler, the Emperor's word is law, and his decrees are enforced without question by the empire's subjects and institutions.   Imperial Court: The imperial court serves as the administrative hub of the empire, comprising nobles, advisors, and officials who assist the Emperor in governing the realm. Courtiers vie for favor and influence, maneuvering for position and power within the Emperor's inner circle.   Knights of the Rose: Among the most feared and revered institutions of the empire are the Knights of the Rose, Emperor Ashur Vimor's personal order of elite warriors. Tasked with protecting the Emperor and enforcing imperial law, these knights act as judge, jury, and executioner, wielding both martial prowess and arcane magic in service to the throne.   Noble Houses: Beneath the imperial court, noble houses hold sway over their respective territories, ruling as feudal lords and vassals of the Emperor. These noble families pledge allegiance to the crown, providing military support and governance in exchange for land and titles.   Commoners: The common folk of the Vimor Empire form the backbone of society, toiling in the fields, mines, and workshops to sustain the economy and support the imperial war machine. Though subject to the whims of their overlords, commoners hold a crucial role in the functioning of the empire, laboring to ensure its prosperity and stability.   Military Command: Military forces within the empire are organized under the command of the Emperor, with generals and commanders overseeing legions of soldiers and knights. The military serves as both a deterrent against external threats and a tool of imperial expansion, enforcing the Emperor's will through force of arms.

Culture

The culture of the Vimor Empire is shaped by a blend of authoritarian rule, arcane mysticism, and feudal tradition, creating a society marked by hierarchy, suspicion, and devotion to the Emperor. From the opulent halls of the imperial court to the humble villages scattered across the realm, the empire's culture reflects its turbulent history and the ever-present influence of magic and power.   Authoritarianism: At the heart of Vimorian culture lies a reverence for authority and obedience to the Emperor. The absolute rule of Emperor Ashur Vimor is upheld as divine mandate, with dissent and disobedience met with swift and severe punishment. Citizens are taught to honor and fear the Emperor, instilling a sense of loyalty and submission that permeates all levels of society.   Arcane Mysticism: Magic holds a central place in Vimorian culture, revered as both a source of power and a tool of control. Emperor Ashur Vimor's mastery of sorcery has elevated magic to a position of divine significance, with arcane rituals and enchantments woven into the fabric of daily life. Arcane practitioners are respected and feared, their abilities shaping the course of politics, warfare, and religion within the empire.   Feudal Tradition: Feudalism forms the backbone of Vimorian society, with noble houses holding vast estates and wielding authority over their subjects as feudal lords. Peasants toil the land, bound to their overlords by oath and obligation, while knights and warriors serve as the enforcers of imperial law and the protectors of noble privilege. Honor, loyalty, and duty are cherished values among the nobility, shaping the code of chivalry that governs their conduct.   Distrust of Outsiders: Within the communities of the Vimor Empire, commoners harbor a deep-seated distrust of outsiders, viewing them with suspicion and wariness. Outsiders are perceived as potential threats to the stability and security of the realm, their motives and allegiances questioned at every turn. This distrust often leads to isolationism and xenophobia, with communities closing ranks to protect themselves from perceived dangers lurking beyond their borders.   Imperial Propaganda: Propaganda plays a crucial role in shaping the cultural narrative of the empire, promoting loyalty to the Emperor and demonizing dissenters and enemies of the state. Imperial propaganda extols the virtues of obedience and conformity, portraying the Emperor as a benevolent ruler and the empire as a bastion of order and prosperity. Dissent is portrayed as treachery, punishable by exile or death, reinforcing the culture of fear and submission that sustains imperial rule.

History

The Vimor Empire traces its origins to the tumultuous aftermath of the War of Succession, a bloody conflict that engulfed the region in chaos and strife. In the wake of the war, a powerful sorcerer named Ashur Vimor emerged as a dominant force, his mastery of arcane magic and ruthless ambition propelling him to the forefront of the political landscape.   Rise to Power: Born into a humble family in 599 NE within the late Theocracy of Brafon, Ashur Vimor exhibited prodigious talent in the arcane arts from a young age. As he grew older and learned of the world, he began to question the teachings of The Seven, eventually leading him to openly defy the religious authorities of the theocracy. Arrested during the Night of Fallen Saints in 672 NE, Ashur narrowly escaped execution and spent the next fifteen years plotting his revenge against the oppressive theocracy.   The Conquest: In the early spring of 688 NE, Ashur Vimor launched a devastating campaign against the Theocracy of Brafon, employing powerful spells and arcane forces to conquer city after city. With his forces swiftly overwhelming any resistance, he marched unopposed into the capital city of Feyhollow, where he proclaimed himself Emperor of the newly formed Vimor Empire. The priesthood of The Seven was decimated, and Ashur enacted laws banning their worship, solidifying his hold on power.   Establishment of the Knights of the Rose: Seeking to maintain control and eliminate any remaining traces of opposition, Ashur Vimor established the Knights of the Rose, an elite order of warriors loyal only to him. Filling its ranks with his most devoted followers, he tasked them with enforcing his will and rooting out dissent throughout the empire.   Rule and Legacy: With the establishment of his empire, Emperor Ashur Vimor consolidated power, leaving the day-to-day management of affairs to his royal court while he continued to expand his understanding of arcane magic and the forces that shaped the world. His reign was marked by tyranny and oppression, as dissent was swiftly crushed and religious freedom extinguished. Though his legacy is one of fear and brutality, Ashur Vimor's influence on the course of history is undeniable, his empire standing as a monument to the triumphs and tragedies of mortal ambition.

Technological Level

Do to the closed borders of the Empire. Many innovations that other regions within Ronia benefit from are not present within the Region of Brafon. Along with the poor education level much needed scientific advancement is missing. That is not true for magic however. Many wizards and sorcerers have found home within the Region of Brafon, they have almost unchecked powers to experiment as they see fit. As long as they don't cause problems for the nobility or the local governance.

Religion

Religion within the Vimor Empire is illegal. All churches and places of worship were destroyed shortly after the Empire came to power. Enforcement of this law is carried out by the Knights of the Rose.

Foreign Relations

The Vimor Empire is a secluded state with its borders closed to everyone who wishes to enter, or leave. With the only exception being properly documented traders who have purchased a pass to levy trade within the Empire.   The United Provinces of Odis, Hodo Empire, and Holds of Baston have a non-aggression pact with the Empire while Neophate Dynasty holds a defensive pact.

Laws

The laws of the Vimor Empire are a reflection of Emperor Ashur Vimor's iron-fisted rule and his singular vision of power and control. Enforced by the feared Knights of the Rose, these laws are designed to maintain order, suppress dissent, and solidify the Emperor's authority over his subjects. While the specifics may vary, depending on the dictates of the Emperor and his royal court, some common principles include:   Ban on Religion: Worship of The Seven, or any other deity, is strictly prohibited within the borders of the empire. Temples and places of worship dedicated to any gods are destroyed, and followers of outlawed faiths are subjected to severe punishment, often death.   Obedience to Authority: Loyalty to the Emperor and his appointed officials is paramount. Citizens are expected to obey orders without question and show deference to those in positions of power. Disobedience or defiance is met with swift and harsh reprisal.   Criminal Justice: The legal system of the Vimor Empire is characterized by its harshness and lack of leniency. Punishments for crimes range from fines and imprisonment to torture and execution, depending on the severity of the offense and the whims of the ruling authorities.   Curfew and Surveillance: Strict curfews are imposed on the populace, restricting movement during certain hours to prevent unauthorized activities and gatherings. Surveillance of citizens by the state is pervasive, with informants and spies reporting on perceived threats to imperial authority.   Censorship and Propaganda: Freedom of speech and expression are severely curtailed, with dissenting voices silenced and dissenting opinions suppressed. State-controlled media disseminate propaganda glorifying the Emperor and demonizing his enemies.   Military Service: All able-bodied citizens are required to serve in the imperial army or fulfill other obligations to the state, contributing to the maintenance of the empire's military might and expansionist ambitions.   Social Hierarchy: Society is stratified, with the Emperor and his court at the top, followed by nobles, bureaucrats, and military officers. Commoners occupy the lowest rung of the social ladder, with little opportunity for upward mobility.

Agriculture & Industry

Agriculture

The Region of Brafon is a well temperate area of arable land. Despite the recent setbacks of famine and crop failures in 787 NE. The industry is quickly rebounding. Large amounts of wheat are grown in the small farming villages that litter the region. Other crops that are found are potatoes, maize, soybeans, yams, sweet potatoes, peas, lentils, barley, oats, and rye.   The area also holds a decent amount of fruits found both in the wild as well as grown by locals. They can include crabapples, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, cloudberries, and cranberries.

Husbandry

Quite a few animals are raised for both food and industry. Cows are raised for their meat and for dairy. Pigs, chickens, and rabbits are all raised as well for consumption.

Mining

With the mountains to the east the Vimor Empire has access to iron, coal, silver, gold, copper, and tin.

Fishing

The Region of Brafon's has villages located up and down its oceanic western coast.

Education

Education is quite poor throughout the Empire. Most peasants learn just enough to do the jobs they are born into. Those who leave their families behind either join the military where education is free, or become Ratcatchers who travel from town to town looking for their next pay day.
