Melwythorne

"You want to know a secret? I don't think any of us knows what they're doing, we just improvise."

Description

More tree than humanoid, Thorne has a towering frame. He has to duck under doorways and often requires special accommodations for housing. His eyes glow bright green, his torso is covered in vines and bark, and his hands are like two outstretched branches. The flowers he blooms have different magical properties due to raw magic in the Witherbloom swamps where he was born. He is still learning what else he can do with them.   Thorne is most frequently found meditating, whether in the quad or in a tower mate’s room to stave off the negatives of isolation. He is slow to anger, slow to talk, and slow to move, but eager to learn.

Family

Unlike most dryads, which are born from the branches of their mother tree, Melwythorne was born from the roots where he was planted in the Witherbloom swamps. He knows little else about his family, only that they are willows like him.

Year 1 Involvement

Thorne was another resident of Krokt Tower during the F Squad's first year. He started the year with a policy of not getting involved. He confronted Griff about the F Squad’s planned heist at the Captain's Manor after overhearing the private conversation. After some convincing, Thorne provided Griff a pink flower that would make someone forget the last hour.   His uninvolved policy led to an argument with Griff later on, with both failing to convince the other to change their opinions. However, during the owlbear rampage, Thorne realized that not getting involved would mean leaving his tower mates at the mercy of the owlbears. He instead sat in the doorway to block the owlbears’ entry at his own expense. Thorne made a full recovery with Professor Verelda Lang's help.   Thorne gave another magical flower to Gary prior to the Truth or Dare party. When Gary asked what it did, Thorne couldn't answer, and instead replied “we’ll see, won’t we?”. Gary took the risk and ate the flower during the game, discovering it gave him a vision of what would happen a few minutes into the future.   When the Oriq trapped the F Squad in the common room of Krokt Tower, Thorne was the only B Squad member who was able to help them survive the attack.
