Jez'rathkar Varsh

Jez'rathkar Varsh are also called Knights, though the term varsh is closer in meaning to "caretaker" than knight. They are the famous psionic warrior monks from Ti'shal Vrlakki, a secluded monastery on the Astral Plane. The Jez'rathkar Varsh are sent on a variety of missions on behalf of their monastery, and they can be found in settlements nearly anywhere in any of the Outer Planes.

Most commonly, Jez'rathkar are sent to defend against incursions from the Far Realm. They are renowned telepaths with minds steeled against the psychic domination of Ilithids.This defense requires the ki or chi energy of their physical bodies be carefully combined with that with their psychic abilities as either Githzerai or Githyanki. These warriors are formiddable and mysterious.

Requirements

The Ti'shal Vrlakki takes only gith as students to their methods; perhaps only gith are truly capable of becoming Jez'rathkar. Young gith who show an aptitude for psionics and using ki are sent or taken from their families to the Monastery. These youngest are sent to hone their physical bodies in the Prime Material Plane.

During the time when magic was sealed on Rolara, this process was greatly impeded. As such, the number of these young novices was particularly high at the time of Reignition of the Stars of Power. Gith who are physically still children cannot access their deepest levels of ability, and as such even when such children have studied for more than 1,000 years they can never rise above the rank of Novice.
