Apparel & Accessories
Crackjaw’s attire blends practicality with symbolism. She wears specialized Loxodon leather boots that provide stability and durability for her towering frame. Her loose harem pants and fitted tank top allow for fluid movement, while her leather vest, adorned with the jagged claw motif of the Shatterjacks, adds an air of authority. Her makeup, applied with precision, further underscores her duality as both a fierce leader and a feminine presence. She uses kohl to outline her sharp, penetrating eyes, a technique inspired by her Videhan roots, giving her an intense and intimidating gaze. Her trunk often holds a heavy iron mace, a weapon she wields with devastating precision. Her tusks are adorned with gold-tipped ornaments, each one engraved with intricate patterns representing her victories and milestones. Her forearms are wrapped with ornate armbands crafted from hammered brass, etched with Videhan symbols of strength and unity. Personal history
Born Zoorja Totoor to a family of Loxodons in the jungles of the Videha region, her early life was marked by the natural beauty and challenges of her homeland. At 16, her family immigrated to Tatharia Capitolina during the Draconian Incursions, seeking safety and opportunity. However, life in the city’s harsh outskirts exposed Zoorja to systemic neglect and the hardships faced by non-humans. Her defiance and independence grew from these struggles. The nickname "Crackjaw" was earned shortly after her arrival, when she defended herself against a gang of local bullies, shattering one’s jaw in the process. This bold act of defiance marked the beginning of her rise to infamy.
Her entry into the Shatterjacks came through a gang known as the Blackwings, a group specializing in rooftop heists and ambushes. Zoorja proved her worth early by devising an escape plan during a botched operation that saved the crew and secured their haul. Over Time, her innovative tactics and fearlessness saw her climb through the ranks, earning respect from gang members and rival gangs alike.
Her turning point came during a high-profile warehouse raid where the gang’s location was leaked to the city guards. Zoorja held off their pursuers long enough for her team to escape but was ultimately captured. Sentenced to three years in prison, her parents were devastated by her crimes and refused to visit her. This estrangement, coupled with her time in prison, fueled her resolve to embrace her new identity as Crackjaw. While incarcerated, she strengthened her connections in the underworld and gained a reputation for her unshakable resolve.
After her release, Crackjaw quickly rejoined the Shatterjacks, using her prison-hardened reputation to garner support among the Tops. When the previous Major was assassinated during a Shard, Crackjaw seized the opportunity, outmaneuvering rivals to claim leadership. Her strategic mind and relentless drive have since transformed the Shatterjacks into a more cohesive and formidable force, securing her position as Majorette in the year 1531.
Gender Identity
Crackjaw’s journey has not been without its personal challenges. Raised in a traditional Loxodon household, Zoorja’s early life emphasized communal harmony, family bonds, and a gentle expression of femininity. These values clashed starkly with the harsh realities of Tatharian society and her eventual life in the criminal underworld. Her towering frame, hardened demeanor, and reputation as a fierce brawler left little room for conventional displays of femininity, making her feel out of place in both worlds.
Despite these struggles, Crackjaw finds subtle ways to express her identity. She wears intricate earrings and gold-tipped tusk rings—a nod to her cultural roots. Her makeup reflects a blend of multicultural influences: bold Videhan patterns that celebrate her heritage, accented with Tatharian-style cosmetics that emphasize her sharp eyes and imposing presence. The tattoos on her trunk and arms, while intimidating, also carry symbols of personal growth and resilience. These small acts of self-expression remind her of the balance between her past and present, allowing her to navigate the cultural clash with grace and determination. Though her hardened exterior defines her in the eyes of many, those closest to her recognize the strength and complexity of the woman beneath.
Morality & Philosophy
Crackjaw operates by a pragmatic moral code rooted in loyalty and survival. She believes in giving disenfranchised individuals a chance to thrive, particularly non-humans who have been marginalized by Tatharian society. However, her compassion does not extend to rivals or those who betray her trust. To Crackjaw, the ends always justify the means, and she does not shy away from using intimidation, violence, or manipulation to maintain order.
