Varlo "Deadeye" Trask
A ghost in the dust-choked streets, Varlo "Deadeye" Trask is an Imperial Inquisitor of some renown on Orpheus, his mere presence enough to send whispers through the saloons and back alleys. A male Drow, his obsidian skin is etched with the scars of a lifetime spent hunting prey—whether criminals, heretics, or those simply unfortunate enough to cross the Chantry's line. He carries himself with the slow, deliberate movements of a seasoned killer, exuding an air of quiet menace. He speaks in a slow, measured drawl, his words deliberate, his threats never empty.
Trask is not a man of faith—only duty and death. His service to the Chantry is not born of piety but of cold pragmatism; the Empire pays well for men like him, and the Chantry rewards those who carry out its will without question. Father Gideon Thorne calls upon him often, using the inquisitor as his personal executioner, much to the dismay of Marshal Elias Dane, who sees Trask as an unwelcome specter corrupting what little law remains in Brimstone. Where Marshal Dane embodies law, Trask represents order through fear. He doesn’t play fair. He doesn’t negotiate. When the red glow of his mechanical eye locks onto someone, it’s only a matter of time before they end up in chains—or a shallow grave. His nickname, "Deadeye," stems from the magitech augmentation replacing his left eye—a cold, glowing lens of crimson glass set into a metal socket, capable of tracking targets with unnatural precision. The eye can see in the dark and enhance his already deadly aim—a necessary enhancement after losing his original eye in a long-forgotten skirmish. Strapped to his hip is a custom-built flasklock pistol, a relic of master craftsmanship that fires alchemically charged rounds, each one tailored for a different purpose—incendiary blasts, shock rounds, or even rounds laced with Aetherium for an extra kick. Trask operates as a seasoned bounty hunter, taking to the job with the detached professionalism of a man who knows he's good at what he does—and enjoys it.
