12. The Hunt

In the twelth chapter of Rodinia IV the characters set out to hunt down High Priestess Embril Aloustinai.   They started off with a note they found in Mangarack's base in the Black Swamp pointing to the fact that Embril had returned to their joint base in Hishan. Heading south to the town of Shelech the party investigated the couple's house on the hill, finding it deserted. From there they spotted a merchant caravan being ambushed in the desert nearby and went to investigate, finding this to be Embril's lair. They penetrated it and destroyed all the undead inside but Embril had already left. She had left a note for Mangarack telling him she had found a clue to help them on their quest and she was off to the Archdruid to follow it up.   The party rode to Honshu, visiting the Nitten Dojo and seeing a statue of Heremod along the way. They soon arrived at Akihabara and found the Archdruid dead. A ritual to raise her went strangely awry and the party found themselves transported to the Shadowfell. There they were able to find the Archdruid's soul and return her to the living realm. So raised the Archdruid told the party Embril had stolen the Cube of Xarthus, which had been used to trap Larin Karr in Carcerai hundreds of years ago. She was no doubt heading to the Lost City of Barakus where the ritual to release him would best be performed.   The party teleported to Manabas, across the far side of the world and tracked Embril to the city of Endhome. Here they were ambushed by an ancient vampire family at the behest of Embril. They wiped the vampires out. From Endhome they headed north to the Lost City where Embril was going to try and release Larin Karr.
