Rodedyn'ni

The Rodedyn'ni culture, "Riverlander" in Tretalleri, is a historical culture now subsumed into the wider Deýliri identity. As the name suggests, the Rodedyn'ni were a people that lived in the plains and riverlands of Di'Termalttë.   Of the peoples that would emerge during the tretallëri diaspora, the Rodedyn'ni were perhaps the most agrarian. Their holdings encompassed vast tracts of fertile land that meant they rarely ever wanted for food, with only the rare year now and then, when the harvests would be truly atrocious for one reason or another.   As an agrarian people, one might be forgiven for assuming that the Rodedyn'ni were pacifistic in nature. Such could not be further from the case. Their wide swathes of territory in the most desirable areas of Di'Termalttë made for a great deal of envy from their neighbors. War was a regular part of life for the Rodedyn'ni, and every able-bodied adult was expected to know how to use a weapon and raise it in the defense of their fellows.   The first Imperator, Cilritanë a'Detvida, saw this aspect of Rodedyn'ni culture and saw it as a vital part of maintaining the cohesion and integrity of the empire he hoped to build. The influence remains visible to this day, as the Dominion mandates the martial training of its citizens from a young age.   Another aspect of Rodedyn'ni culture that remains relevant to the modern Dominion is a focus on infrastructure. Because the Rodedyn'ni lands were so vast, they required a means to quickly transport their armies to where they were needed. This meant networks of roads and bridges through even the most inhospitable terrain in their territory. At a time when most of their neighbors used packed dirt roads and ferries across rivers, the Rodedyn'ni built paved roads and permanent bridges, ensuring that it would take their troops at most four days to get from one end of their territory to the other.
