A Missive To The Liaison of the Joint Northlands Settlement Expedition

A Missive to the Liaison of the Joint Northlands Settlement Expedition is the official title later given to a letter sent by then-Prince of Ravens Talus a'Rendë to the Dominion liaison to the Joint Northlands Settlement Expedition.   Any expedition to uncharted lands given official sanction by the Dominion can expect that a group of Dominion officials will accompany them on their journey. Though some might balk at the bureaucratic burden that this imposes, the officials to be assigned are chosen through a rigorous process that ensures they will be assets to the team instead of hindrances. Although their primary duty is to ensure that the expedition complies with Dominion law, they are expected to help ensure the safety and success of the expeditions to which they are assigned.   Although it is expected that the Dominion liaison—the most senior member of the Dominion delegation—might receive a brief from the Grand Rookery, it is quite uncommon for them to receive correspondence from the Prince of Ravens himself. The contents of the missive were classified for as long as Dominion law permitted, and only partially declassified upon passing the threshold of 20 years from the moment the letter was penned.   Even with portions of the text redacted, there is enough available to peruse that it is possible to read between the lines. The tone of the missive is surprisingly optimistic, suggesting that the Dominion's intelligence apparatus was quite confident that the expedition would succeed. In a later unredacted section, the Prince impresses the importance of the utmost of confidence on the liaison and counsels them to exercise steadfast vigilance as the expedition's work gets underway.   While hardly conclusive, this suggests that the Prince of Ravens either expected or had a reasonable suspicion that the expedition might encounter something potentially paradigm-shifting in Noltêrrë. What this could possibly be is heavily redacted. As for whether the expedition did manage to find whatever it was that the Prince believed they might find, there has been no indication and it may well be many years before that information, if it exists, is declassified.
