Warion's Ascent

Standing over the sheer drop, the landscape of the Blightmark unfolds before you. Watching an Eldritch Storm maraud across the lands below is a sight you'll not soon forget. You've heard that fortunes have been won and lost on betting whether one of these storms will be able to surmount the great wall of Warion's Ascent but unfortunately there is no one near to wager with.
Who Warion was is clouded in conflicting legend, but most western races refer to him when describing this wall of stone. Gnomes, halflings, and humans commonly refer to it as Warion's Ascent, while dwarves seem to prefer Warion's Folly. Oroc tribes tend to refer to the cliff range as Ashukharma's Blade, while elves and edari commonly use Shuurkhana (the Storm Wall).   Warion's Ascent is a series of bluffs and cliffs that separate the lowlands of the Blightmark from the arid heights of the Warwarion Steppe. Where this escarpment meets the Blightmark, it ranges from 800-1300 feet high. As it approaches the Sea of Niniesh it gradually descends until it becomes a low ridge dividing the western portion of the Abbason Swamp from the main swamp.   Despite its extreme height and steep slope, it can often be traversed through eroded gullies and passes carved into the cliffs by weather, water, and time. Even where assisted by nature, the majority of these routes consist of narrow winding passes. The most notable passage is at the town of Precipice, where significant erosion has resulted in a route navigable even by wagons and caravans. Significantly, Precipice is also host to the only known passage through Warion's Ascent. The Dark Road winds through numerous underground tunnels and caverns until arrives atop the cliffs at Zeana's Landing.
