Introduction to Riesa (REE-za)

Millenia ago, the Nin Civilization controlled all of Riesa. It was an age of wonder, magic, and technology. Knowledge from across the planes was collected, analyzed, and adapted for the furtherance of the Nin. Dizzying spires, floating cities, and underwater paradises were but a few of the great creations said to have been common in the cities of Niniesh. The ancestors of humans, dwarves, elves, and the other races all had their place: as servants and slaves to to the Nin.   Perhaps the Nin reached too far. Perhaps the gods themselves took offense at Niniesh hubris. Perhaps there was rot at the center of the Nin Civilization. Whatever it was, the Great Cataclysm  Great Cataclysm ended the Nin in dramatic fashion. In the thousands of years since the Great Cataclysm, the races of light have hidden away from the Warp Storms, finding refuge wherever they could. Isolated and bereft of their masters' leadership, the various races survived, adapted, evolved and developed new traditions.   Civilizations, empires, and races have ascended, prospered, and fallen back into ruin. The Scarred Coast is littered with ancient monuments of immense size. The lizardfolk of the Abbason Swamp claim to be direct descendants of the once great Abban Empire. Tribes of orcs or goblinoids unite, conquer, establish great kingdoms, and then fracture into a thousand pieces to begin again.   Yet through all of these changes, the effects of the Great Cataclysm are still felt as dangerous Warpstorms, Shadow Squalls, and Chaos Tempests pass across the lands of Riesa. Over the centuries, as these storms have decreased in frequency and intensity, there is growing hope for a more hospitable world. Once again the races of light are beginning to emerge to tame the blighted lands of Riesa.

Races of Light

The so-called civilized races include humans, edari, elf, dwarf, oroc, gnome, and halfling. Rumours whisper of a collection of races living deep in the earth collectively known as the Races of Dark.
