The Church of Wardens

The Church of Wardens was established around 1700 years ago, uniting Revelation under one worship. The Church was founded on Eiled before expanding to Brif , then Drydydd , giving it a presence on each continent. The Church controls all of the well known @[Divine Wells], lending it great influence across the world. It follows a primary pantheon (the Wardens) of 12 gods; specifically: Cyric, Eldath, Helm, Lathander, Malar, Savras, Selune, Shar, Silvanus, Talos, Torm, and Waukeen. While not all worship practices of each god are followed, each is honored at each core church. Individual branches tend to pursue and prioritize individual gods based on preference, providing individual spaces of worship for various devouts, leading to areas tending towards certain gods rather than others.   The Church of Wardens boasts the most thorough record keeping in the world for the last two millennia. When the Church was founded, the record keeping that later became the Watchers began a new calendar and kept careful record of all historical events which can be accessed, with permission, from many Watchers record branches scattered throughout major cities.

Structure

The Church's clergy each use the title Allservant, but different levels of prestige exist with the ranks. Further, there are 3 known divisions of the Church of Wardens; the Bindings, the Watchers, and the CareGivers. Together the divisions shepherd religious practices and beliefs, wielding impressive power in guiding world-shaping events for the betterment of all intelligent races by avoiding religious conflicts and serving as connection to the Divine.   Each church is organized int tiers of Allservants, with the Allservants running regional branches at the top. These Allservants tend to come in pairs and have a lot of influence within their region due to the control and power that comes with possessing such influence.   The Church of Wardens serves as advisors and religious leaders, not political leaders. While they have political power and influence, in nearly all cases they do not govern. The only exception to this is Eden . The divine nature of the region encouraged the Allservants to found the country and lead it.

Public Agenda

Together the branches of the Church of Wardens shepherd religious practices, beliefs, and world-affecting events in favor of balance and peace. Its influence has avoided large scale religious conflict and facilitated most religious practices, preventing the divides that come with such borders.

History

The Church predates many @Divine Wells. This is proclaimed to indicate favor upon @Revelation by the deities that the Church of Wardens worships, as wells are manifestations of divine favor. As such the Church also predates many recorded religious crusades, frequently pursuing control over divine wells, but only the crusades that came after the founding of the Church have documented divine presences.

Priesthood

The Order of the Allservants head the Church of Wardens. While all priests of the Church are referred to as Allservants, there are varying levels of influence and responsibility at different levels. At a town or village level, an Allservant is a standard member of the clergy, providing religious guidance to all who come to them. At higher levels, Allservants belong to one of the branches of the Church of Wardens, which comes with roles such as recording or managing the Church's vast histories and libraries or perhaps providing humanitarian aid and philanthropic ventures.   At the upper levels though, the title indicates absolute authority within an individual region. Such people (such as Lord Ashguard) head branches in regions and has dedicated their life to the service and worship of their gods. While it is common to have a favored god, Allservant leaders keep these preferences out of public business and pursue such beliefs in their own time.   There are no more than 10 of the Allservant leaders in each region, tending towards several leaders per branch to divide work. These relationships span from student-mentor, colleagues, or other such collaborations. These leaders typically meet once per year or as needed, while their region operates largely independently from the headquarters in Eiled . These Allservants are religious leaders and frequently are involved in political events as advisors and representatives of the Church, but do not lead governments with the exception of Eden.

Political Influence & Intrigue

Eden's council of Allservants consists of only three members. At the beginning of The Legacy Curse , the entire council of Allservants vanished and a new one had to form over the ~7 years. As the details of the curse became clear, much of the region came to believe they were forsaken by their gods and turned to despair. 2 of the 5 new counci lmembers retired. Damien, the Allservant in the city of Eden joined shortly after. Following that the other three members of the previous council vanished or died over the next decade, while Korinn was promoted to the rank in @Ovala several decades later and Allservant Milo was relocated from Eiled as part of the burgeoning humanitarian aid in @Refuge.
